Resources for river stewardship
The Windham County Natural Resources Conservation District serves as a source for community conservation. This website provides educational resources about runoff, pesticides, flooding, invasive species, and other best management practices for those who live and recreate in Windham County.
Kayak for conservation
Join the Windham County Natural Resources Conservation District to monitor for the invasive water chestnut! No prior experience with invasives required!
Participants will bring a kayak, canoe, or small boating vessel, life preserver, and sunscreen. At each session, we will start by sharing how to identify water chestnut, remove it safely and clean their kayaks. After this, we will prepare our watercraft and survey one of four sites. Two sites are located in Rockingham and two are located in Vernon. Participants are encouraged to join us on the water for at least one hour, however, surveys can last up to 4 hours depending on the number of volunteers.

If you are interested in joining, please fill out this survey. Our schedule is provided below for each site. Note: this is subject to change due to weather.

Vernon: June 28 and 29, July 21 and 23, August 23 and 24, and September 27 and 28
Rockingham: June 14 and 20, July 12 and 13, August 11 and 14, and September 13 and 15
